Music playlist week #8

Music playlist week #8

Welcome to Damson's weekly feature.

Each week we will share 10 great tracks with you.

SG Lewis - Aura (Mele Mix)
2018's "Aura" was already a pretty tasty track and that was before we heard this top-class remix. Some free-form jazz piano, and incredibly soulful vocals from J Warner make this a must-listen for any fan of electronica.
Toro y Moi - Freelance
This one seems to be a bit of an acquired taste but we love it. With hiccupping beats that are seemingly out of time, and clipped vocals show that Toro y Moi are firmly making waves towards the dance floor once again.
L'Imperatrice - Matahari
The French have a reputation for producing the kind of electronic music where house collides with disco, and this is no different. Sounding a little more "80's" than their counterparts in Daft Punk this is one track you won't forget in a hurry.
Sharon Van Etten - Comeback Kid
The release of this marked a pretty drastic change in the singer-songwriters sound. We're not sure if that's a good thing yet, but what we are sure of is that "Comeback Kid" is an absolute BANGER.
Get your ears wrapped around this one.
Felix Da Housecat - Rocket Ride
Finding anything written online about this track is near enough impossible, but this opening track from the fantastically named "Devin Dazzle & The Neon Fever" album is a sugar rush of a song. It's impossible to keep your feet still when this is on.
TVAM - Narcissus
UK producer TVAM is somewhere between "Boards of Canada" and "My Bloody Valentine". It sounds like it shouldn't work, but it does. Watch him become a huge worldwide star over the next few years. You heard it here first.
The Prodigy - Omen
Was the tragic death of Keith Flint the end of The Prodigy? Probably. It's hard to see them continuing without him, to be honest. Let's just enjoy their incredible music and never forget how they changed the musical landscape for the better.
Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers - Egyptian Reggae
Can you believe this was released in 1978? Madness. It still sounds just as fresh and fantastic today as we're sure it did back then. A funk classic.
Images - Les Demons De Minuit
More incredible music from our friends across the channel. We'd recommend listening to this through some noise-canceling headphones to really get the full effect from this 1986 classic.
The Pharcyde - Runnin'
A slight change in pace, but this is such a catchy track. If you're a fan of goofy alternative 1990's rap (think De La Soul etc.) instead of Gangster rap, give these guys a try.
