Music playlist week #9

Music playlist week #9

Welcome to Damson's weekly feature.

Each week we will share 10 great tracks with you.

Enjoy!

The Cribs - We Share The Same Skies

Like us, these guys are from Yorkshire and the song features the great Johnny Marr on guitar, so what's not to love! This has Marr's fingerprints all over it. The ode to their home town of Wakefield is probably their finest moment from a songwriting perspective.

Boards of Canada - Roygbiv

Fun fact: Boards of Canada are not Canadian. But they are musical geniuses which is evidenced by the ability to cram so much into 2 minutes 15 seconds as they do here, and not leave the listener feeling short-changed.

Leon Bridges - Bad, Bad News

After bursting on to the scene with his 2015 release, "Coming Home", expectations were high for Bridges' next release. We needn't have worried, as "Bad, Bad News" is a funky, soulful dancefloor filler, and in our opinion his best track so far.

The Beloved - Sweet Harmony

The signature track from controversial dance act "The Beloved" is a glorious, ice-cool slice of synth-pop. It manages to be brooding, moody and euphoric all at the same time. Unsurprisingly, this was their career highlight.

Daniel Pemberton - Take You Down

Daniel Pemberton is an English film score composer famous for scoring The CounselorSteve JobsKing Arthur and a few others. This track is taken from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Give it a listen. You'll love it.

The Wailers - I Shot The Sheriff

If you've never heard this, or don't know who it is, you must have been living under a rock. Probably one of the most relaxed and chilled out songs ever written. Often imitated, but never duplicated.

Royal Deluxe - I'm Gonna Do My Thing

We're not ashamed to admit we know very little at all about these guys, but it doesn't matter. This is a great, rocky, bluesy track that would fit right in on any episode of Sons of Anarchy. Enjoy this over and over again.

Sublime - Santeria

We challenge anyone to listen to this and not have a huge grin on their face afterward. Quite simply, one of the most joyous songs ever written and still as popular today as when it was then first released way back in 1997. Incredible.

The Howl & The Hum - Godmanchester Chinese Bridge

How could we not include a band from our home town in one of our lists? These guys are something else, as this song shows. If they don't blow up to be a hugely successful band, we'll eat our considerable selection of hats.

Post Malone - Better Now

To round off our admittedly random weekly list we have the ridiculous, but incredibly talented, Post Malone. He may not be for everyone, but you can't deny the guys talent for writing an insanely catchy hook
